First off we would like to welcome everyone who has come to visit our barn and our mares this season. This is the fourth year we have been able to broadcast from our barn and are very excited that you all could join. Before anyone Posts please read carefully... thanks.. We do ask that you treat each other fairly, be nice and have fun. Please do not put others down for how they handle their farms or their mares. During the births, if you have a question, please ask in a nice manner. Someone from the board will be in touch with us at all times during a birth. Questions will be answered in as timely a matter as we can get it done. Keep calm. Rude comments will be deleted and dealt with in a calm manner. Be advised: Sometimes things can and do go wrong, we will do what we have to do at that moment to help both mare and foal and keep ourselves safe. It is a privilage for you to be able to come into our barns and homes and see these wonderful animals giving birth. We hope that we can continue to do it for many years to come. ;D Shawn & Robin Meadows and our moderators Jennifer, Kim & Melody

I have had calves born and was up close AND personal, as much as a Texas Longhorn momma would let me. Had puppies born on my lap! AND had kittens born in my bed, with me still in there! But never lucky enough to see a foals... I wish I was there to "catch" the baby!

What can you tell us about the foal cam? You site is so EASY to get around in.... other barns are just a pain... I like getting to just login and then see the mare, playing her game a statue.. You or whoever set up your website and cam, did a GREAT job. ;D I only have (1) one complaint you NEED more lighting in the birthing stall. These silly mares and foals like to hide in the shadows and it's difficult to see what's going on.....

thank you, I set the site up myself. I have her stall lite up as much as I can right now. I have 3 lights in there and its nice an bright in there but the cam don't show it. If I put any more lights in there it will blind her! lol I do have a light on hand for when she foals, hopefully that will help you all see more when the time comes. The cams I got are not low light cams is why... I couldn't afford the low light cams right now.. may have to do that for next year.. Robin

I wondered about the dark thing......but can you see her from house brighter than we can? She sure knows how to work those shadows lol. Its dark, but as long as she's ok, no biggie! Thanks for sharing, and yes, it is great website!

the lighting thing i see the same as all you.. except i have th elive video here unlike the refresh you all see.. If I see her acting odd I go out there and peek in so I canget a better look. The lights I have in there are 150 watts.. so not much more I can do right now for lighting.. just have to put the brighter one in there when she goes to foal.. hope that will brighten it up better for all of you. ALSO another quick little thing here.. just in case its a factor later..this is not intended for any one in particular just thought I would throw this in.. When a mare goes to foal.. I will not move her or make her get up just for a better cam view.. its painful enough on them then someone making them move.. The way my cam is set up she should lay where the foaling can be seen but if not, I will not move her. sorry all I am not trying ot be rude just honest. and I hope all can respect that. I will have an updater to keep everyone posted as to what is going on and about the foal.. Thanks everyone.. hope you all understand.. Robin

Heck yah, no way should you try to move her so some cranky watcher can get good view. Those are the ones who have no clue about your real world.......its not a movie, its REAL! Her safety is and should be your only concern, so do not worry! And good idea to say it, maybe they will get a clue rofl.
