Low Alert by no means is saying that she is going to foal with in the hour or even a few days. That will depend on the mare and foal. This is more or less a heads up that yes she has shown signs of change and could go into to labor at anytime or even wait a week or so. High Alert will be sent out by one of us when we know that foaling is 100% coming. In other words high alert will be sent out once the water breaks. Time span between a low alert and high alert could be 5 minutes difference or weeks apart. Only the mare and foal know that answer. Once you have witnessed several mares foal you learn to tell the difference. Granted there is always a mare out there that will not give any warning of foaling and just deicide to plop down and foal out of the blue. Believe me one of us is usually watching at all times and if anything changes we will post. Now time to get watching and miss lots more and this is Robin >>> (I cant spell)lol
